Sea to Sea Expedition (1992)
University students from Thunder Bay took part in a retracing of the routes
across Canada of
explorer, Alexander Mackenzie . They stopped in Fort Vermilion in August 1992. The Sir Alexander Mackenzie Voyageur Route Association supported this event and produced promotional pamphlets.
In 1792 Mackenzie was in this area and recorded the garden growing at Boyer's Post. He completed the historic crossing of North America when he reached the Pacific Ocean in 1793.
