The owners of the Sheridan Lawrence Hotel started River Daze as promotional canoe races. Over a 22 year period the event has grown to include canoe, raft and boating events as well as an Ironman Contest. The Ironman is a four person relay of biking, canoeing, running and swimming.
Headquarters for River Daze is the "S.S. D.A. Thomas Park". The South Ferry Landing and Uptown Landing are starting points for the various events.
