	Bridge Opening (1974) On September 19, 1974 a new era began. The opening of the Fort Vermilion Bridge across the Peace River attracted hundreds of guests. Seasoned ferry operator Archie Mercredi guided the Fort Vermilion Ferry beneath the bridge on its last run at Fort Vermilion.
